Blackbuck EV has announced a major milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Telangana to establish a large-scale electric bus manufacturing facility in the state.
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Telangana’s Minister for Industries, Shri D. Sridhar Babu. As part of the agreement, the state government has agreed in principle to allocate the required land and provide ecosystem support to help Blackbuck EV ramp up its manufacturing plans.
Over the next five years, Blackbuck EV plans to invest around USD 30 million to build a state-of-the-art facility at Telangana Future City, with an estimated annual production capacity of up to 2,000 electric buses.
The upcoming facility will support the development and production of multiple vehicle categories, including:
-
15m and 13.5m electric sleeper coaches
-
9m electric staff and school buses
-
7m electric mini-buses
Blackbuck EV’s existing facility will handle the initial manufacturing of its 15m electric sleeper coaches and 9m electric buses as the company prepares for its next phase of expansion.
Founder and CEO Ramakrishnam Raju expressed gratitude to Minister D. Sridhar Babu and the Telangana government for their support, and acknowledged the guidance of Jayesh Ranjan, Sanjay Kumar IAS, and Gopalakrishnan VC.
The new facility is expected to significantly strengthen Telangana’s position in India’s fast-growing EV manufacturing ecosystem while contributing to the state’s clean mobility goals.
